Autosmart joins in on a 100 year old race

Smartab alongside Chris Ashton and Shaun Devey from the UK office took part in the Vasaloppet which is an annual bike race that takes place from Salen to Moran in Sweden.
The 94km race was inspired by a journey from Mora to Salan by King Gustav Vasa when he was fleeing from soldiers in the winter of 1520. King Gustav Vasa completed his journey on skis and although the ski race started in 1922 and continues today, the Autosmart team decided to take on the bike race.
Shaun Devey, IT Director says, “We had been asked by Smartab to join them on this amazing race which they participate in every year. Although Chris and I had put in extensive training for the event, nothing prepared us for how challenging it was.”
The race which covers 94km of upward terrain took Chris and Shaun around 6 hours to complete. The elite Smartab team were quicker, the first home in 3h 08, only 20 minutes behind the overall winner! 3 smartab cyclists completed the course in under 3h30, great effort
Shaun continues to say, “It was a huge challenge and probably one of the toughest things I have ever done. It was (though) great to be a part of the race and also to build relationships with our team at Smartab. It was great to be a part of the journey and a great experience for me to look back on,”
